Gauge:
A 4” square made in sc., with Natural Cotton Maxcolor 4/6 and a 3.5 mm hook, measures 15 sts. x 17 rows.
Execution:
The Pillow uses the tapestry crochet technique; in this technique, work with 2 or more strands in the same round, changing colors according to what the chart specifies. To change colors, pull the last 2 loops off the hook with the new color, and hide the other yarn over the previous round, between the stitches of the new color.
Chart 1 – Front part
With the White yarn, start with 69 ch. + 1 ch, to turn the work.
1 - Start working in the 2nd ch. from the hook, make 69 sc.
2 to 7 - Start with 1ch., 69 sc. Fasten off.
8 to 12 - Join the Dark Cheddar yarn, start with 1ch., 69 sc. Fasten off.
13 &14 - Join the White yarn, start with 1ch., 69 sc. Fasten off.
15 - Join the Lavender and Black yarns. Extend the Black yarn over the base row, with the Lavender yarn, start with 1 ch., 26 sc., change to the Black yarn, 15 sc., change to the Lavender yarn, 28 sc.Continue following chart 1, working in back-and-forth rows, making the necessary color changes.Fasten off the Black, Lavender, and Dark Cheddar yarns, set the White yarn aside.
With the Onyx Gray yarn, embroider the spider web following chart 1.
Chart 2 – Back part
Continue with the White yarn from chart 1.
1 to 7 - Start with 1ch., 69 sc. Fasten off.
8 to 12 - Join the Dark Cheddar yarn, start with 1ch., 69 sc. Fasten off.
Continue following chart 2, working in back-and-forth rows, making the necessary color changes.Fasten off the Black, Lavender, and Dark Cheddar yarns; Set the White yarn aside.
Chart 3 - Join
Continue with the White yarn from chart 2.Fold the piece in half and work, joining the front part with the back part.1 - Start in the corner with 2 sc. in the same base stitch, yarn over the stitch from the front and the stitch from the back together, work along the side with 1 sc. for each base stitch, yarning over the stitch from the front and the stitch from the back together . Repeat from to around the entire piece, joining the sides. Close with a sl st.
Set the yarn aside.
Chart 4 - Contouring
Continue with the white yarn from chart 3.1 - Work around the sides and bottom with 1 sc. for each base stitch. Set the yarn aside.
Chart 5 - Finishing
Continue with the White yarn from Chart 4.1 - Work around the opening of the piece with: 1 sc., 2 ch., skip 2 sts. of the base. Repeat from to around the entire opening of the piece. Close with a sl st.Set the yarn aside.In the corner, make a cord with 100 ch. Fasten off.Join the yarn on the opposite side and make a cord with 100 ch. Fasten off.Weave the ch. cords into the finishing loops to close the piece.
