Knitting Stitches used:
Garter Stitch: Follow diag. 1.
Stockinette Stitch: Follow diag. 2.
Crochet Stitches used:
Reverse Single Crochet (Crab Stitch): Single crochet worked from left to right.
Gauge: a 10 cm (4”) square in stockinette st. (diag. 2) on 3.5 mm knitting needles = 26 sts. x 38 rows.
Execution
Transfer the patterns onto tracing paper to use as a reference when making the piece. Pay attention to the arrows in the measurement diagram, which indicate the direction of the work.
Back: using Seaside yarn in Rustic Wine, cast on 90 sts. on 3.5 mm knitting needles. Begin the piece from the bottom in garter stitch, following diag. 1 and the repeat sts. for 1.5 cm (0.6 “). Continue the piece in stockinette stitch, following diag. 2 and the repeat sts. At 15.5 cm (6.1“) in length, dec. 1 st. on each side every 10 rows (3x), leaving a total of 84 sts.;At 27.5 cm (10.8”) in length, inc. 1 st. on each side every 10 rows (3x), returning to a total of 90 sts. At 32.5 cm (12.8”) in length, begin shaping the armholes. Bind off on each side every 2 rows: 5 sts. (1x), 4 sts. (1x), 3 sts. (1x), 2 sts. (1x), and 1 st. (1x), leaving 60 sts. At 43.5 cm (17.1”) in length, begin shaping the neckline by binding off the 18 center sts. Work the remaining 21 sts. on each side separately, dec. on the neckline side every 2 rows: 3 sts. (1x), 2 sts. (1x), and 1 st. (1x). At 48.5 cm (19.1”) in length, bind off the 15 sts. on each shoulder and set the piece aside. Front: Work the same as the back.
Assembly and Finishing: using a tapestry needle and Seaside yarn in Rustic Wine, sew the shoulders (7 cm / 2.8”) and the sides (32.5 cm / 12.8”).
Crochet Edge: using a 2.5 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in Rustic Wine, work reverse single crochet (crab st.) around the neckline and armholes.
