Execution

Transfer the templates to tracing paper to use as a reference when making the piece. Pay attention to the arrows on the measurement chart indicating the direction of the work. Knit all pieces in rows, back and forth.

Cardigan (Size S - 36/38)

Back:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 76 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece in Pattern Stitch (B), following chart 2 and the repeat sts. When the piece measures 18¾ inches, bind off all sts. and set the piece aside.

Right Front:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 43 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece as follows: 8 sts for the edge (yoke - chart 1), 35 sts (chart 2).

When the piece measures 11¼ inches, begin shaping the neckline after the 8 sts for the edge (yoke). Decrease 1 st every 3 rows (11 times).

When the piece measures 18¾ inches, bind off 24 sts on the left side of the piece (shoulder).

Continue with the 8 sts for the edge (yoke) for an additional 3¾ inches. Bind off all sts. and set the piece aside.

Left Front:

Same as Right Front, reversing all shaping and bind-offs.

Sleeves:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 42 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the cuff in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece in Pattern Stitch (B), following chart 2 and the repeat sts. When the piece measures 10 inches, increase 1 st on each side every 4 rows (8 times), for a total of 58 sts.

When the piece measures 18¾ inches, bind off all sts. Make the other sleeve the same and set both pieces aside.

Assembly and Finishing:

Using the tapestry needle and Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), sew the pieces together with whip stitch.

Join the shoulders for 5½ inches.

Sew the additional yoke pieces of the right and left fronts around the neckline of the back part.

Sew the side seams for 12½ inches, leaving the armhole opening of 6¼ inches.

Sew the sleeves and cuffs for 18¾ inches and sew them around the armholes.

Top – (Size S - 36/38)

Back:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 78 sts on the 5.0 mm circular needle. Start the piece from the bottom in 2x2 ribbing, following chart 3 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches. Switch to the 6.0 mm circular needle and continue the piece in 2x2 ribbing, following chart 3. When the piece measures 8 inches from the beginning, decrease 4 sts on each side (1 time), totaling 70 sts. Continue with 2 edge sts on each side. Then, decrease 2 sts on each side, before and after the 2 edge sts, every row (2 times) and then 1 st every row (9 times), leaving 48 sts. When the piece measures 10 1/4 inches, bind off the central 34 sts and continue with 7 sts on each side to form the straps. When the piece measures 13 3/4 inches from the beginning, bind off the 7 sts on each strap and set the piece aside.

Front:

Continue with 2 edge sts on each side.

Then, decrease 2 sts on each side, before and after the 2 edge sts, every row (2 times) totaling 62 sts.

Then, knit the decreases simultaneously for the armholes and the neckline.

For the neckline, bind off 2 sts, then knit over 30 sts on each side separately.

Continue with 2 edge sts on each side of the armholes and neckline.

Make the decreases before and after the edge sts.

Decrease 1 st on the neckline side every row (2 times) and then 2 sts every row (6 times).

For the armholes, continue the decreases every row by 1 st (9 times).

When the piece measures 10 1/4 inches, continue with 7 sts on each side to form the straps. When the piece measures 13 3/4 inches from the beginning, bind off the 7 sts on each strap and set the piece aside.

Assembly and Finishing:

Cardigan (Size M - 40/42)

Back:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 84 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece in Pattern Stitch (B), following chart 2 and the repeat sts. When the piece measures 19¾ inches, bind off all sts. and set the piece aside.

Right Front:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 47 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece as follows: 8 sts for the edge (yoke - chart 1), 39 sts (chart 2).

When the piece measures 12 inches, begin shaping the neckline after the 8 sts for the edge (yoke). Decrease 1 st every 3 rows (12 times).

When the piece measures 19¾ inches, bind off 26 sts on the left side of the piece (shoulder).

Continue with the 8 sts for the edge (yoke) for an additional 4 inches. Bind off all sts. and set the piece aside.

Left Front:

Same as Right Front, reversing all shaping and bind-offs.

Sleeves:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 46 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the cuff in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece in Pattern Stitch (B), following chart 2 and the repeat sts. When the piece measures 10½ inches, increase 1 st on each side every 4 rows (9 times), for a total of 62 sts.

When the piece measures 19¼ inches, bind off all sts. Make the other sleeve the same and set both pieces aside.

Assembly and Finishing:

Using the tapestry needle and Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), sew the pieces together with whip stitch.

Join the shoulders for 5¾ inches.

Sew the additional yoke pieces of the right and left fronts around the neckline of the back part.

Sew the side seams for 13 inches, leaving the armhole opening of 6¾ inches.

Sew the sleeves and cuffs for 19¼ inches and sew them around the armholes.

Top (Size M - 40/42)

Back:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 86 sts on the 5.0 mm circular needle. Start the piece from the bottom in 2x2 ribbing, following chart 3 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches. Switch to the 6.0 mm circular needle and continue the piece in 2x2 ribbing, following chart 3. When the piece measures 8 1/2 inches from the beginning, decrease 4 sts on each side (1 time), totaling 78 sts.

Continue with 2 edge sts on each side. Then, decrease 2 sts on each side, before and after the 2 edge sts, every row (2 times) and then 1 st every row (10 times), leaving 54 sts.

When the piece measures 10 1/4 inches, bind off the central 40 sts and continue with 7 sts on each side to form the straps.

When the piece measures 14 1/4 inches from the beginning, bind off the 7 sts on each strap and set the piece aside.

Front:

Continue with 2 edge sts on each side.

Then, decrease 2 sts on each side, before and after the 2 edge sts, every row (2 times) totaling 70 sts.

Assembly and Finishing:

Cardigan (Size L - 44/46)

Back:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 92 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece in Pattern Stitch (B), following chart 2 and the repeat sts. When the piece measures 20½ inches, bind off all sts. and set the piece aside.

Right Front:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 51 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece as follows: 8 sts for the edge (yoke - chart 1), 43 sts (chart 2).

When the piece measures 12½ inches, begin shaping the neckline after the 8 sts for the edge (yoke). Decrease 1 st every 3 rows (13 times).

When the piece measures 20½ inches, bind off 28 sts on the left side of the piece (shoulder).

Continue with the 8 sts for the edge (yoke) for an additional 4¼ inches. Bind off all sts. and set the piece aside.

Left Front:

Sleeves:

Start the piece from the cuff in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece in Pattern Stitch (B), following chart 2 and the repeat sts. When the piece measures 11 inches, increase 1 st on each side every 4 rows (10 times), for a total of 66 sts.

When the piece measures 19¾ inches, bind off all sts. Make the other sleeve the same and set both pieces aside.

Assembly and Finishing:

Using the tapestry needle and Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), sew the pieces together with whip stitch.

Join the shoulders for 6¼ inches.

Sew the additional yoke pieces of the right and left fronts around the neckline of the back part.

Back:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 94 sts on the 5.0 mm circular needle. Start the piece from the bottom in 2x2 ribbing, following chart 3 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches. Switch to the 6.0 mm circular needle and continue the piece in 2x2 ribbing, following chart 3. When the piece measures 9 inches from the beginning, decrease 4 sts on each side (2 times), totaling 78 sts.

Continue with 2 edge sts on each side. Then, decrease 2 sts on each side, before and after the 2 edge sts, every row (3 times) and then 1 st every row (10 times), leaving 50 sts.

When the piece measures 10 1/4 inches, bind off the central 36 sts and continue with 7 sts on each side to form the straps.

When the piece measures 14 1/2 inches from the beginning, bind off the 7 sts on each strap and set the piece aside.

Front:

Continue with 2 edge sts on each side. Then, decrease 2 sts on each side, before and after the 2 edge sts, every row (3 times) totaling 66 sts.

Back:

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece in Pattern Stitch (B), following chart 2 and the repeat sts. When the piece measures 21¼ inches, bind off all sts. and set the piece aside.

Right Front:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 55 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

Continue the piece as follows: 8 sts for the edge (yoke - chart 1), 47 sts (chart 2).

When the piece measures 13 inches, begin shaping the neckline after the 8 sts for the edge (yoke). Decrease 1 st every 3 rows (14 times).

When the piece measures 21¼ inches, bind off 30 sts on the left side of the piece (shoulder).

Right Front:

Using Bossa Nova yarn in color 5082 (Fortune), cast on 59 sts on the 6.0 mm circular needle.

Start the piece from the bottom in Pattern Stitch (A), following chart 1 and the repeat sts. for 2 inches.

When the piece measures 10 inches from the beginning, decrease 4 sts on each side (2 times), totaling 94 sts.

Continue with 2 edge sts on each side.

Then, decrease 2 sts on each side, before and after the 2 edge sts, every row (3 times) and then 1 st every row (12 times), leaving 46 sts.

When the piece measures 10 1/4 inches, bind off the central 32 sts and continue with 7 sts on each side to form the straps.

When the piece measures 15 1/2 inches from the beginning, bind off the 7 sts on each strap and set the piece aside.
