Materials:

10 hanks of Aloe Vera yarn - Color: 5073 (Petroleum);

5.0 and 5.5 mm Círculo circular needles with an 80 cm cable;

Cìrculo tapestry needle;

Wax paper;

Pencil;

Scissors;

Measuring tape.

 

Abbreviations: CO: cast-on, BO: bind-off, inc.: increase, dec.: decrease, st: stitch, sts: stitches, in: inch(es), k: knit,  sm: stitch marker; RS: right side.


Knitting stitches used: stitch pattern A: follow chart 1, stitch pattern B: follow chart 2, stitch pattern C: follow chart 3, stitch pattern D: follow chart 4, sl1wyif: slip 1 stitch with the yarn in the front.


Gauge: 4 x 4 in square in stitch pattern B (chart 2), using 5.5 needles = 15 sts x 26 rows.

 

Execution


Transfer the molds to wax paper to use as reference when making the piece. Pay attention to the arrows in the Measurements chart indicating the direction of the work. Knit all rows flat.


Back: using Aloe Vera yarn in the color petroleum and 5.0 mm needles, CO 74 sts. Start the panel at the bottom. Work in stitch pattern A, following chart 1 for 12 rows. Next, switch to 5.5 mm needles and proceed in stitch pattern B (72 sts + 2 edge sts), following chart 2. At 10 in from the CO edge, start the sleeves: increase on each edge and every row: 1 st (for 7 rows), then 2 sts (in 1 row), 3 sts (in 1 row), 4 sts (in 1 row), 5 sts (in 1 row), 6 sts (in 1 row), then 7 sts (in 1 row). You should end with 142 stitches. Proceed in stitch pattern B, following chart 2. At 20 in from the CO edge, shape the shoulders by BO on each edge, every 2nd row: 12 stitches (in 1 row), 24 sts (in 1 row), then 22 sts (in 1 row). BO the remaining stitches once the panel measures 22 in from the CO edge, then reserve the panel.


Front: using Aloe Vera yarn in the color petroleum and 5.0 mm needles, CO 74 sts. Start the panel at the bottom. Work in stitch pattern A, following chart 1 for 12 rows; in the last row make 1 increase, ending with 75 sts. Next, switch to 5.5 mm needles and proceed as follows: 25 sts (chart 2), 25 sts (chart 3), 25 sts (chart 2), following the established charts. Work in pattern for 8 in, then change to stitch pattern D, following chart 4. At 10 in, start the sleeves: increase on each edge and every row: 1 st (for 7 rows), then 2 sts (in 1 row), 3 sts (in 1 row), 4 sts (in 1 row), 5 sts (in 1 row), 6 sts (in 1 row), then 7 sts (in 1 row). You should end with 143 stitches. Continue working in st patterns B and D, following charts 2 and 4. At 20 in, begin shaping the shoulders and neckline simultaneously, decreasing every 2nd row. For the neckline, BO the 23 center stitches and work on each remaining side separately (60 sts each), decreasing 1 st on the neckline edge every 2nd row, 2 times in total. For the shoulder shaping, BO on each edge, every 2nd row: 12 stitches (in 1 row), 24 sts (in 1 row), then 22 sts (in 1 row). BO the remaining stitches once the panel measures 22 in from the CO edge, then reserve the panel.

 

Assembling- shoulders and top of sleeves: using Aloe Vera yarn in the color petroleum and a tapestry needle, seam the top of the sleeves and shoulders in mattress stitch (15 in on each side).


Sleeve hem: using Aloe Vera yarn in the color petroleum and 5.0 mm needles,, pick up and k 65 sts around the bottom edge of the sleeve. Work in stitch pattern A, following chart 1 for 12 rows. BO all stitches and repeat the process on the second sleeve.


Assembling and finishing: use Aloe Vera yarn in the color petroleum and a tapestry needle and make all seams in mattress stitch. Seam the sides of the body (10 in) and close the sleeves (12.5 in each). Fold the body and sleeves hems on the 6th row of stitch pattern A (chart 1) and seam them to the WS of the piece using running stitches.


Collar: using Aloe Vera yarn in the color petroleum and 5.0 mm needles, pick up and k 67 sts around the neckline, with the RS of the work facing out. Place a sm to mark the beginning of each round. Work 2 rounds in garter stitch (k all sts in the 1st round, purl all sts in the 2nd round). BO all sts.
